Mahogany Bowl with Scorched Exterior

This mahogany bowl has a lovely contrast interior/exterior. Using the Japanese method of wood preservation called yakisugi, the exterior surface was burnt and rubbed back to give its deep black finish. 

Reclaimed Mahogany - off-cut from a local woodworker.

Finished with an overnight drench in food safe mineral oil.

Approx. Diameter 165mm ø, Height 32mm

Care instructions: Wash quickly by hand, if necessary use a mild detergent. Do not soak in water. Dry immediately with a towel and allow to air dry thoroughly. Use ReWood Nourishing Butter to rejuvenate and protect longevity.
